S.R.V. Lions Club Announces 8th Annual Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic

SRV Lions Golf Outing

Golfers from all around Bergen County and beyond will tee off in the Saddle River Valley Lions Club Annual Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic being held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, New York. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a ‘Shotgun Start’ being slated for 8:30 a.m.

The Golf Classic is an all-inclusive event giving golfers real value for their registration fee. At only $125 per person, tickets include all greens fees, use of a cart, a continental breakfast, barbeque lunch, beer, and beverages.

Using a ‘scramble format,’ participants will be competing for great prizes including those given for the longest drives, ‘closest to the line,’ lowest team score, and much more. S.R.V. Lion Jim Murphy said that the day is “about being with friends, enjoying good food, and, of course, having fun, but all the while helping a good cause.” He added that, “besides playing a great course, golfers will also have a chance to try their luck in both a raffle and a live auction.”

In its eighth year, the annual event began as a social gathering and has grown into one of the Club’s most important events each year. Committee chairperson Lion Roger Barr said that “in addition to honoring S.R.V. Lion Herb Bodensiek, the golf outing has become an important means of helping our club to fulfill its core mission. The club provides needed funds to charities that serve the blind and visually impaired as well as those volunteer organizations assisting people with other health-related issues.”

Classified as a 501C(3) non-profit entity, the Saddle River Valley Lions Club has raised and distributed more than $2,000,000 during its fifty year history. 100% of its net proceeds go directly to the charities that the Club supports with none of the funds raised being used to meet administrative expenses, a cost borne by the Lions themselves.
