South Jersey Eye Center Helps to Build “Promise Neighborhood”
The South Jersey Eye Center recently formed a strong collaboration with the Center for Family Services who lead the Camden Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood – which is comprised of a team of local organizations, educational institutions, and residents of Cooper Plaza and Lanning Square in Camden. This collaborative initiative comes together in an effort to enrich the lives of Camden City families through the creation of “Promise Neighborhood”. A Promise Neighborhood brings together community programs and community-based organizations that have the ability to empower children and families from infancy through College.
The South Jersey Eye Center, through this initiative, has begun to provide free eye screenings and follow-up examinations at Fetters School. The ultimate goal is to screen every student at Fetters School (the oldest school in the State of New Jersey) and provide free eye wear to students who are vision impaired through a donation from New Eyes for the Needy. The Center will be providing the same service to other schools in the neighboring vicinity throughout 2012.
