Chester Lioness Club

The Chester Lioness Club will be assisting the Chester Food Pantry in providing food baskets for needy families in the area for the Easter/Passover Holidays.  Local supermarkets offer free turkeys or hams to patrons who exceed certain spending limitations.  To donate a turkey, ham, or canned/packaged goods for distribution to those in need thru the Chester Lioness Club call Holly Simmenroth at 908-879-5932. (See below for directions to “drop off”).

These are the items that the food pantry needs at this time:

  • laundry detergent
  • tea
  • canned fruit
  • apple sauce
  • juice boxes
  • canned meat
  • pie crust
  • deodorant
  • salad dressing
  • tuna
  • mac and cheese
  • paper towels
  • chili

We have a 1 month supply of the following items:

  • prepared foods
  • rice
  • Spaghettio’s
  • Jello/puddings
  • toilet paper
  • desserts/cookies
  • pet food

All Items may be dropped off at your convenience  in my garage at 10 Cora Lane, Chester, NJ.  Drive down the driveway, park, and go thru the gate in the chain link fence (push down the grey lever to release the gate door) and follow the walk to the rear of the attached 2 car garage.  Go thru the “people door” and leave the frozen items in the small white freezer (if full leave on top, I will get them to the pantry freezers within a few hours). Leave bags of grocery items adjacent to the freezer, and PLEASE sign your name, address, e-mail and phone # on the pad on top of the freezer.

If you need further directions to my home, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 908-879-5932.

Many thanks for your participation,

Holly Simmenroth

The annual Saddle River Valley Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 16th at Lions Memorial Park, Lake Street and Valley Lane, in Upper Saddle River.  Children ages 8 and under are invited to bring their baskets and join the fun.  The hunt will start promptly at 10:00 AM.  In case of inclement weather, the hunt will take place the

The Easter Egg Hunt is one of the community events sponsored by the Lions Club and is open to children in all surrounding towns.  Since its founding in 1958, the Saddle River Valley Lions Club has donated over
$1,800,000.00 to sight related charities and to community organizations throughout the Saddle River Valley.  Tickets for the Lions 2011 Ford Mustang fund raiser will also be available at the Easter Egg Hunt.

Information about projects and membership is available by visiting the club’s web site at: www.srvlions.org.

Medford Lakes Lions Club

The Medford Lakes Lions Club is all about service. Take for instance the Medford Lakes Lions Club Food Bank. Every month on the third Saturday, people from all around the area make their way to the Lion’s Building for food. Karen Formont, Past President, is there along with her committee each month to make sure no one goes away hungry. During the Holiday’s the club packs together can foods, stapels, milk, bread, a turkey and pies along with toys if needed to provide over 75 area families with a holiday package that blesses their family with memories of joy. This year in January, the members of the Medford Lakes Lions Club came together for a full day of can food collection at the local Murphy’s Market in Medford to replenish the shelves. Over 30 boxes of food and $250.00 in donations were the result of a long day of service by the entire club. Pictured above are Ed Davis and Bob Brown who moved the boxes of food into the Lion’s Building.
