Absecon Lion’s isited Absecon Nursery School

March 11, 2011

Members of the Absecon Lion’s Club recently visited Absecon
Nursery School to conduct vision screenings at no cost to the school or
to the children. Each participating child had their eyes photographed and
the results will be screened by the Camden Eye Center. If a problem is
discovered, the parents are notified to contact their family optometrists for
further examination.

This screening provides instant photographs of the children’s eyes to
determine the presence of such eye disorders as:

  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness
  • Astigmatism
  • Strabismus
  • Media opacities
  • Amblyopia
  • Anisometropia

This screening is 85-90% effective in detecting the above eye disorders
that can cause decreases in vision. The Absecon Lion’s Club works
in conjunction with the Camden Eye Center, Low Vision Clinic, 400
Chambers Avenue, Camden, New Jersey 08103 (856) 365-1811
