International Guest Clem Kusiak announced that a Lions Commemorative Coin will be struck by the US Mint for the 100th Anniversary for the International Association of Lions Clubs in 2017. The coins will be $40.00 each, $10.00 from each coin will go to LCIF. The striking of the coins will probably be concurrent to the Chicago Convention.
LCIF gave each Governor $10,000( total $50,000) for disaster relief from Hurricane Sandy.
New Jersey is expected to get a $290,000 major disaster grant. It is budgeted as follows: $100,000 to Camp Marcella to provide two weeks of camp experience for children who lost their homes from Sandy and $190,000. For structural repairs in New Jersey.
A second morning club is forming in Toms River.
The delegates to the state convention voted to increase dues by $6.00 per a year (New dues will be $18.00 per member per year). This is the first dues increase in 20 years. It keeps the Multiple District Financially stable.
The delegates to the convention approved holding the 2014 convention at Bally’s in Atlantic City. Many Lions felt this was the first time in years, the convention had a convention feel rather than holding meetings in a hotel.
South Jersey Eye Center received a $151,632 grant from LCIF This grant is expected to serve 8,400 underserved school aged children and 1.300 adults.
